What does my child need to bring to camp?
All payers must have full CAHA hockey equipment to participate in any of our programs. If your child is not in the lunch program, they will need a hearty lunch. For winter programs, sweatpants and running shoes are needed for off ice programs. As for summer programs - shorts, t-shirt, running shoes, a hat and sunscreen are required.
What is included in full CAHA hockey equipment?
Your child will need: a helmet with face shield, neck guard, shoulder pads, elbow pads, hockey gloves, hockey pants, jock & garter or shorts with built in cup, hockey socks, shin pads, hockey skates and a stick. Mouth guards are optional. All students will receive a CPHC jersey.
Will there be someone to help my child get dressed into their hockey gear?
Players are welcome to come dressed in their equipment if they are going on the ice first thing or they can get dressed when they arrive. Parents/caregivers are welcome to stay and help their child get their gear on. If they are not able to, we have many hands to help get each player into their equipment and tighten their skates. We do try and encourage players to learn to get themselves dressed but will make sure each student is geared up and ready to go.
What about lunch?
Students have 2 options for lunch. They can either bring their own lunch or can participate in the lunch program run by the snack bar. Lunch consists of a drink, lunch and dessert each day. This may include a hotdog, pizza, chicken fingers and fries. Each snack bar has their own menu so lunch varies from rink to rink. There is a set menu each day.
All students, regardless of whether they are on the lunch program or not, will receive a drink in the morning and drink and snack in the afternoon each day.
Please note that many of our students have NUT ALLERGIES ranging form mild to life threatening. Please consider this when sending your child with lunch and/or snacks.
What is the difference between the Power Skating & Hockey Skills and the Skating, Puckhandling & Scoring programs?
Power Skating & Hockey Skills is approximately 50% power skating instruction and the rest of the focus is on Hockey Skills. Skating, Puckhandling and Scoring places more emphasis on the puckhandling, passing, shooting and different facets of scoring. Power skating is still covered in the program but there is more emphasis on the hockey skills component. Either program would be suitable for a houseleague or select level hockey, depending on what you would like to focus on.
What if I need to cancel a program?
Because we know people's plans can change, we try to make things as flexible as possible. For summer camps, you have up until 3 weeks prior to the start of the camp to cancel your child's program. If you cancel 3 weeks or more before the start, a full refund will be given less a $50.00 Administration fee. No Refunds or Credits are given for cancellations made less than 3 weeks prior to the start date of the camp unless accompanied¬Ýby a doctor's note. Class cancellations are subject to a $25.00 Administration fee.
Who do I call in case of an emergency?
It is always best to call our office first at 416-322-3630. If no one is available, please leave a message as we pick up messages frequently. You can then try calling the arena where your child is located. You can find arena numbers listed on our website at www.cphc.on.ca
Is there a sibling discount?
Yes, there is a 10% discount for those registering more than one child from a family. For each child, take 10% off the price of the camp before adding GST. The discount does not apply to the lunch program.
